personality

traits:
Nathan is a calm and simple soul, but he often perceives himself as dull because of his insecurities. As a only child to working parents for most of his life, he is independent and used to being on his own and rather enjoys it. Upon first meeting, he is quiet and reserved, preferring to observe in the background than be in the middle of the crowd. He may come off as a little awkward and clumsy as well. He avoids being the first to initiate things and can be considered a follower rather than a leader. In every sense, he is rather introverted than he is extroverted. He is patient and thoughtful, traits needed to be working with young children, but is a bit of a workaholic as his students are everything to them. He is fairly easy-going and open-minded. He is also stubborn with his thoughts and a bit of a worrywart.

background

Nathan Jaewoo Park was born to loving couple in San Francisco, California. Eight years after his birth, the Park family relocated to the district of Jinhae-gu in Changwon, South Korea. They remained here until months before Nathan's eighteenth birthday, when Nate bid his goodbyes to his beloved family and moved alone to attend Au Fait University to pursue a degree in early childhood education.

Nathan grew up with a fairly uneventful childhood, blessed to be provided with all he could ever need or want. As a child, he kept mostly to himself, a quiet, timid, and humble boy, who did just enough to avoid attention. Instead, he surrounded himself with reading books, a hobby and love fueled by his own mother's passion as a university professor in literature. Stories about wild adventures and fantastical worlds were among his favorites. His earliest and fondest memories were of walks to the library on spring mornings, with cherry blossoms under his feet and his mother's warm hand in his own. As he aged, his reserved personality and love for books remained.

In the middle of his teenage years, at the age of 15, the Park family's lives changed forever. In a tragic car accident, Nathan's aunt and uncle perished, leaving behind their two young children: a boy, age four, and a girl, age two. Mr. and Mrs. Park became the legal guardians of the children, and Nate, suddenly the older brother of two. When his parents began to take on extra hours to provide for the newest additions of the family, Nate was forced to take on both fraternal and parental responsibilities. As he watched his siblings grow and blossom, he realized that he enjoyed having such an important role in their lives. When high school ended, he decided that he wanted to make an impact on the lives of other young children and settled on a career of teaching. Having a high profile career was never something he desired, and he was lucky that his parents supported his wish.

While leaving behind his family was among the most difficult decisions of his life, to be able to have the opportunity to make a difference in young children, made it worth it. He now permanently resides in the city. After a few years of preschool teaching, he opened up SunnySide Daycare Centre, his pride and joy. He still holds his quiet and rather simple nature, with only a small knit of friends and a 6-month old kitten named Leo, to keep him company. He is the happiest he can be with the students he teaches and is satisfied and grateful for the peaceful life he lives (so he says). Yet, one thing remains missing in his life: a partner to share it with. With all his reading, Nate can't help but to be the hopeless romantic that he is. But for now, he tells himself, his life can wait.
